Many photographers ask the wrong question about headshots. They obsess over the best camera settings for headshots like aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, as if the right dials magically produce a polished portrait. They don't.
Ditch the photoshoot. Photo composition tips used to mean learning camera theory, hiring a photographer, and hoping the final image looked like you on your best day. That's obsolete for headshots.
You're staring at a headshot that technically works, but doesn't feel right. Maybe it's too busy, too casual, or the background is doing more talking than your face is. On LinkedIn, in a team directory, or on a casting profile, that tiny mismatch can make a polished person look oddly forgettable.
Portrait is the default for AI headshots because 87% of people in one mobile behavior study said they usually dialed phone numbers in portrait mode, while video was the only task where a majority reported using a wide format PDF.
You're probably not looking for a photography lesson. You need a polished headshot, maybe three versions of it, and you need it before your next posting window, client pitch, casting submission, or website refresh.
Photo metadata is the structured information embedded in an image file that describes how, when, where, and by whom a picture was made or generated. For AI headshots, that hidden layer is what helps you sort, protect, and reuse portraits without guessing.
